Saturday, June 20, 2009 - At 17:56 Co. 5 (1st due) Lynchburg Fire (2nd Due) and Co.1 as (RIT) along with Sq 5 were assigned to a reported porch fire at Jefferson Business Center on Forest Road. Co. 12 (Brookville Timberlake) already assigned to Station 5 for stand by responded on the 1st alarm. Lynchburg Fire Batt 2 arrived and advised a 150 x 75 strip shopping center heavy fire showing from the middle of the row. While units arrived Command advised that we would be operating in a defensive attack mode due to roof collapse. Several master streams from Engine 7, Timberlake Engine 3, Truck 2, and Pumper 5 went into operation. Several 2.5 attack lines, and one Blitz Fire were deployed. When Ladder 1 arrived it also was put into operation on the A/B corner. Engine 5 laid in 2000 ft of LDH from one of the 4 hydrants used in the operation. Chief 5 (T. Styles) would add a 2nd alarm bringing LFD Eng 3, F/R 3, Timberlake Eng. 1 and Ladder 2. Also a rehab area was set up by Sq,5 and Sq. 6. We would like to thank the local businesses that support this operation with much needed food to feed the men and women working the incident. Units assigned were; P-5,E-5,R-5,C-5,Timberlake E-3,E-1,L-2, Lynchburg E-7, T-2, B-2, M-7, E-3, B-3, L-1,F/R 3, Medic;s 5-4,5-3,5-6,6-3,Crash 5, and 5A, County 1,3,16, VSP,BCSD,LPD,VDOT,Lynchburg Public Works, Standing by P-2, and E-1.
